Take it Back is the first track from Miracle of Sound's album, Level 2. It was written, produced, mixed and mastered by Gavin Dunne (Miracle Of Sound). Lyrics written by Gavin Dunne. Vocals arranged and performed by Miracle Of Sound. Music by Miracle Of Sound. This song was released on March 6, 2012.
It was re-released on August 21, 2012 on Youtube and July 12, 2012 on Bandcamp as an extended cut, mimicking the extended cut made to the game which inspired it. The original release, though still present on Youtube, is not available for download on Bandcamp, which sells the extended cut as part of Level 2.
With the release of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Dunne released an updated version of the song on June 11, 2021, with lyrics more in line with his current style of writing; that is to say, with fewer overt references to the source material.

On June 11, 2021, Miracle of Sound released a re-recorded version of the song in commemoration of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The lyrics of this version differ from those of the original. In Dunne's own words:
"When I first wrote this song way back in 2012 it was for a cross promotional collaboration with Bioware for the Mass Effect 3 launch. My first draft was a more personal feeling song, without any direct references to Reapers, Shepard etc... closer to how I write nowadays. The Bioware team at the time asked me to add more overt references/names so I did. This remake however is much closer in spirit to my original vision for the song...".
